A new smart interface for cooktops.
Cooking becomes more visual with this new development and the user can know the state of the cooking process through different colors and light intensities. Lighting is a highly emotional component which makes products more exciting. As an interaction interface, it can visually support many functions in the cooktop and thus meet the high demands of the user.
This interface is a landmark innovation, that consists of an individual light per heater that shows through different colors and intensities the status of the cooking process. The light displays not only create a stylish, added value aspect for cooktops, but they also increase user-friendliness and functionality.
With this technology Copreci and Eika introduce in the market an innovative solution, which allows final user to cook in a safety and precise cooking environment. -
“The customer’s demand, the supplier’s answer” With this tittle begins the Copreci´s article written by HA Parts & Components, the Household Appliance magazine. In the strategy of Copreci, one of the biggest producers of components for household appliances on a world scale, the customer service is realized through a confidence relationship built staking on the reliability of relationships and on the product quality.

The collaboration will strengthen technology development in the areas of electromagnetics, electrical machines and power electronics.
The alliance between the two entities will enable the development of more value-added, resilient and consumer-friendly products.
The IKERLAN technology centre and the COPRECI cooperative, dedicated to the design and manufacture of components and systems for household appliances, have signed a technological collaboration agreement for the next four years that will allow the development of disruptive innovations in electronics, providing robustness, efficiency and maintainability requirements to the basic functionality. In addition, the products developed will integrate cybersecurity and artificial intelligence technologies that will result in products with greater added value, which are more resilient and user-friendly.
The agreement will enable technological development in the household appliance sector and includes the development of technology in the areas of electromagnetism, electrical machines and power electronics, for the design and integral development of small electric drives, motor control strategies, contactless charging systems for household appliances (Inductive Coupling Power Transfer) or induction heating systems for household appliances, among others.
Imanol Oleaga, managing director of COPRECI, and Ion Etxeberria, managing director of IKERLAN, accompanied by research staff from both entities, were responsible for signing the agreement at a meeting held today, 27 February, at COPRECI's facilities in Aretxabaleta.
This new alliance between COPRECI and IKERLAN strengthens the close relationship that both entities have maintained for more than 45 years. It is no coincidence that COPRECI is one of the user partner entities that backed IKERLAN in the 1970s and is a clear exponent of inter-cooperation in the industrial field that allows the knowledge of the technology centre to be transferred to the industrial field.
IKERLAN has extensive experience in the development of cutting-edge technologies in electromagnetism and power electronics, areas in which it has also participated in various European research projects such as: the UltimateGaN project (based on gallium nitride semiconductors), Reaction (based on silicon carbide semiconductors for energy technologies) or InductIce (application for de-icing aircraft wings by means of induction heating). These collaborations have led to closer relations with the main microelectronics players in Europe, including Infineon and ST Microelectronics.
Ion Etxeberria, managing director of IKERLAN, stressed that thanks to this agreement "we feel very proud to strengthen our relationship with a benchmark company in our local environment and at the same time with great international prestige such as COPRECI and to extend the collaboration between both entities beyond technology, with the purpose of facing together the new challenges that both organisations face, among which I would highlight specialisation and talent".
Imanol Oleaga, manging director of COPRECI, pointed out that "this collaboration reaffirms the strategy of alliances that we have established in our strategic plan, which reflects that we have to surround ourselves with the best to reach the market in time to offer sustainable and value-added solutions. It allows us to create a local network in the field of power electronics and digitisation, to be able to lead technologically and compete on an international scale. It strengthens our commitment to develop environmentally friendly SOLUTIONS that promote ethical and healthy consumption. The organisational trust between both companies and the work in multidisciplinary teams helps us to develop and exchange talent”.

Both companies propose a solution to combat the widespread presence of microplastics in marine fauna.
With the aim of generating a differential value proposition, Copreci has recently signed a strategic alliance with PlanetCare, an emerging company specialized in technological solutions that prevent contamination of the seas by microplastics.
The objective of the alliance is to promote the development, industrialization and global commercialization of PlanetCare solutions as well as to deepen other aspects of this inter-cooperation.
A solution to a global problem
This agreement highlights Copreci's ongoing commitment to innovation and technological improvement, allowing users to have safer, easier-to-use and environmentally-friendly appliances. In fact, through this collaboration with PlanetCare, Copreci makes the necessary solutions available to manufacturers of any type of washing machine to avoid contamination by microplastics in the seas and oceans. In each laundry, hundreds of thousands of microscopic plastic fibers are released and since the current filters in washing machines do not have the capacity to retain them, all these small plastic particles end up in the wastewater, polluting the environment, damaging ecosystems and even going back up the food chain.
In the words of Imanol Oleaga, General Director of Copreci, “We are excited to work with the PlanetCare team that will surely contribute to offering technological solutions that help the white goods market to eliminate a source of pollution that causes waste every year. of millions of tons of microplastics ”. Likewise, he comments that "we always seek to offer our users the most advanced solutions on the market, and the alliance with PlanetCare points in that direction."
Mojca Zupan, CEO of PlanetCare, emphasizes that “we are delighted to work with a team that shares our vision and values” without forgetting that “we have seen the transformative impact that our technology has for clients around the world, and that it will be more accessible through this alliance with Copreci. "
About PlanetCare
PlanetCare is a startup totally focused on the development of innovative technological solutions that avoid the contamination of the environment by fibers. PlanetCare has developed a modernized external filter that works in all household washing machines and a filter for medium-size commercial washing machines. In addition, they are developing other versions of filter technology to cover the entire spectrum of sources from domestic to industrial washing machines. PlanetCare is also actively working with governments, NGOs and academic institutions in different countries, as well as appliance manufacturers and other companies, to change legislation or adapt these solutions for applications. -

HPBA, the "Hearth, Patio & Barbecue Expo" is the largest fair of this sector in the USA, and every year attracts thousands of professionals in a different American city. This time the fair was held in New Orleans.
Mr. Jack Goldman, president of HPBA handed over a commemorative plaque to Jokin Antxia, who attended on behalf of Copreci during the past 20 years without interruption.
We asked Jokin Antxia about it, why is significant this event in the history of Copreci?
J. Antxia: Although we already were attending this fair as visitors, this year we celebrate 20 years attending the show with our own stand. In those days, the fair was the opportunity to place Copreci on the map and gave us know in the market. How has this sector evolved?
J. Antxia: Initially all manufacturers were in the United States and therefore the fair was eminently national, but with the migration of many manufacturers to China, the fair declined somewhat in size, to reach its current size in which several customers have returned to manufacture again in North America. After so many years relationships with customers will be very special, isn’t?
Yes of course, relations in such events are very peculiar, because the partners, with whom we negotiate contracts or technical characteristics of a product, appear so natural 2 hours later disguised in a party organized by the same fair. I remember being with Jack Goldman, dressed as Elvis a couple of years ago.And some memorable experience?
J. Antxia: Many, because we have also had the opportunity to contact people from very different backgrounds and cultures. In addition, we have also been at the same time with the Basque Diaspora, as some fairs have been held in places like Reno where there are important Basque communities. We also have Basque-Americans customers as “Aupa Plancha”, which incorporate Basque symbolism in their products, and the truth is that they are very unique experiences. -
Copreci has been featured in the last edition of the HA Factory magazine, that dedicated an extended report to the Induction in Copreci. HA Factory is an international media focused on the technical components and materials for the household appliance sector.
