The investment will drive the final development phase and the transition to production of their innovative electric motor for e-bikes, ADTS®. The Aretxabaleta-based cooperative Copreci, with extensive experience in electric motor manufacturing, sees this partnership with Niche as a strategic opportunity for diversification and growth. Niche aims to make daily cycling in urban environments easier through a more intuitive and efficient riding experience.
Girona, May 6, 2025 – Niche Mobility, a company specializing in technological solutions for light mobility, closed a €1.6 million funding round in March to support the final development and production launch of its innovative ADTS® electric motor for e-bikes.
The capital increase was subscribed by the MONDRAGON Promotion Fund and Copreci, advised by Clave Capital. The round also included participation from existing investors—a group of local business angels (from Figueres and Alt Empordà), led by the CEBA project—who reaffirmed their commitment to the project and Niche’s potential in sustainable and innovative mobility.
Strategic industrial alliance with Copreci
According to Rodrigo Orue, Director of Innovation, New Business, and Digital Transformation at Copreci, “this is fantastic news, as it represents a great fit for an industrial partnership. For a company like Copreci, with deep expertise, technical know-how, and production capacity in electric motor manufacturing, the partnership with Niche represents a strategic opportunity for diversification and growth.”
Renewed confidence and a clear roadmap
Marc Barceló, CEO of Niche Mobility, expressed strong appreciation for the successful closing of the round, stating that the capital increase “reaffirms the strength of the project. We are very grateful for the support from both new partners and our current shareholders, who have placed their trust in the project, the team, and our vision. This investment allows us to stay on schedule and ensures the product will be ready for its debut at EUROBIKE 2025.” Niche is now entering a critical stage: moving from prototype to production, solidifying its roadmap toward industrialization.
Innovation, sustainability, and new strategic partners
Niche, a company focused on innovation and electric mobility, has brought on new strategic partners who share its vision. Its ADTS® system, a patented automatic gear-shifting mechanism, optimizes performance and user experience in electric and urban bicycles. With a strong focus on enhancing the cyclist’s experience, Niche aims to make everyday bike use in cities more intuitive and efficient. The addition of new partners strengthens its position in a rapidly evolving sector. The company is currently collaborating with several brands as testing partners and has attracted interest from OEMs (original equipment manufacturers) considering the integration of ADTS® into their upcoming models.

After the recent opening of our plant in Cairo, there was no better way to make ourselves known in the Egyptian market than by participating in The Annual International Manufacturing Convention and Exhibition - Third Edition (IMCE), held this week at the Al-Manara Center for International Conferences, Fifth Settlement, New Cairo. IMCE 2024, organised by the Federation of Egyptian Industries, is one of the largest industrial events in the country, and we were honoured to be part of this edition.
In addition, we were honoured to receive the visit of the Prime Minister of Egypt, Dr. Mostafa Madbouly, at our stand. This moment was a recognition of our dedication and effort in bringing Copreci's innovation and expertise globally. We continue to work with passion to be closer to our customers in every corner of the world.

Yesterday, we had the pleasure of welcoming Spain’s Second Vice President and Minister of Labour and Social Economy, Yolanda Díaz, to Copreci.
During her visit to our facilities in Aretxabaleta, she offered reassurance in light of the tariffs affecting our activity and reaffirmed her support for cooperativism and local industry: "No companies will be shut down, and no jobs will be lost. We will be where we are needed."
Beyond the impact, at Copreci we also see opportunities: under the current tariff framework, Mexico becomes the main beneficiary, with no tariffs on components — unlike the US, Europe, or China. -
Yesterday we received at Copreci the visit of a group of engineering students from the University of Deusto, a diverse group covering areas such as mechanics, design, industrial organisation, electronics, automation, computer science.....
All of them accompanied by Professor Alberto Murillo Marrodán. It was a real pleasure to share with them our experience as an industrial cooperative, a model that promotes innovation and collective commitment.

We have received the first images of Copreci Egypt... we have been impressed by the modern and technological plant that has been created in this country...
In the video we see Iñigo Albizuri from Mondragon Corporation, together with Aitor Alzelai and Esteban Cifuentes from Copreci thanking the partners who have made it possible, Ebda, the Egyptian business development agency and Fresh Electric, a manufacturer of household appliances.
Egypt is a land of opportunities, both for Copeci and for our partners. Much success to all and especially to the women who make it possible, more than 90% of the people who work there are women.
